Celebrating “The Greatest Treasure Ever Found,” for the 35th anniversary of the historic 1988 discovery of “The Ship of Gold,” the SS Central America, which sank in 1857, taking tons of California Gold Rush Gold and Hundreds of lives to the bottom of the Deep Blue Sea.

During the recovery, many historical SS Central America Shipwreck artifacts were discovered and preserved that provided a true glimpse into the lives of the Gold Rush Pioneers and a virtual time capsule into 1857.
