American Buffalo Gold Coins

The American Buffalo gold coin is one of the most popular modern gold coins from the United States Mint. In 2006, the U.S. Government approved the first minting of a 24-karat gold legal tender coin under the Presidential $1 Coin Act. The Gold American Buffalo is named after James Earle Fraser’s popular 1913 Buffalo Nickel, also known as the Indian Head Nickel, one of the most iconic and popular designs from the U.S. Mint.

The $50 Gold Buffalo is minted in pure .9999 fine gold and recognized as U.S. Legal Tender with a $50 face value, however, these gold coins trade based on the price of gold, not the $50 denomination. The Gold Buffalo blends a beloved American style with modern minting techniques to produce a beautiful ‘modern-classic’ one-ounce gold coin. The American Gold Buffalo has been a valuable commodity since its inception in 2006, not only because of its pure gold content, but also because of its historic, majestic design, which pays tribute to the heritage of our nation’s original residents with a Native American portrait on the obverse and a majestic American Bison on the reverse, reminiscent of America’s pioneering spirit.
