25 Wyoming Goldback – Fideletas (Loyalty)
The 25 Wyoming Goldback proudly presents the virtue Fideletas—Latin for Loyalty—depicted for the first time as a devoted Wyoming ranch woman awaiting her beloved on their wedding day. Clad in simple bridal attire and adorned with a traditional wreath, she sits peacefully upon a wooden fence, radiating readiness and unwavering devotion. Behind her, the majestic Grand Teton Mountains rise in silent witness, while the humble Episcopal Chapel of the Transfiguration, built in 1925, stands as a testament to faith and enduring promises.
Fideletas draws inspiration from the biblical parable of the ten virgins, a story of vigilance and preparation. Just as the wise virgins kept their lamps filled with oil for the arrival of the bridegroom, so too does Fideletas hold an illuminated oil lamp in one hand and a cruse of oil in the other. Her presence is a living symbol of readiness born of loyalty—the kind of loyalty that acts not merely out of duty, but out of love, trust, and expectation.
At her feet lies her faithful cattle dog, a loyal companion and guardian. Beside it rest a loaf of bread, a bottle of wine, and a small bowl of salt spilling onto the earth—symbols steeped in Christian tradition that reflect loyalty given and received, particularly in covenantal relationships with Christ. Behind her, a contented cow symbolizes abundance and the blessings that flow from a loyal heart.
In the foreground, wheat grows tall, ripe for harvest. It serves as a dual symbol: the yield of faithful deeds and the coming separation between the loyal and the disloyal—between wheat and tares. The inscription “Faithful to the End” captures the spirit of this design, a tribute to those who wait in hope, act in faith, and remain steadfast regardless of time or trial.
