A young woman sits gracefully on the hood of a classic 1960 Chevrolet Impala 348 Convertible, her hair catching the wind as she smiles toward the horizon. She is framed by the glow of Route 66 and the enduring spirit of those who made the open road feel like home.

Route 66, commissioned in 1926, ran straight through Oklahoma, linking small towns to the national highway system. During the Dust Bowl, it became a road of escape. In the postwar decades, it became a road of wonder. Tourists followed its curves to iconic roadside attractions like the Round Barn in Arcadia, Pops 66 Soda Ranch, the Blue Whale of Catoosa, and the towering Golden Driller in Tulsa. These places weren’t just stops. They were invitations to experience Oklahoma’s charm.

The woman in the artwork wears Oklahoma Roses in her hair and lap, the state flower, symbolizing pride and grace. A hawk soars above, a reminder of freedom and movement. In the background, the neon sign of the Rock Café glows, having withstood fire, time, and even the Great Depression. Like the people it served, it adapted and endured.
