The 5 New Hampshire Goldback highlights Veritas, or Truth, in her second appearance within the Goldback series. She is elegantly portrayed in colonial attire, extending a lit candle to illuminate the path before her. This gentle yet powerful act symbolizes the guiding force of Truth—dispelling confusion and leading the way through the uncertainty of life.
The setting features a fog-covered river and a covered bridge, modeled after those found along New Hampshire’s scenic Kancamagus Highway, invoking a sense of local authenticity. The covered bridge represents both a literal and metaphorical passage—a safe route through the mists of deception, made possible by the light of Truth.
On either side of Veritas, state symbols reinforce the design’s connection to New Hampshire. A purple lilac, the official state flower, blooms on her left, while the purple finch, the state bird, perches on her right. A moose stands steadfastly in the background—emblematic of Truth’s massive and immovable nature.
